ABOUT YAD

The Youth Association for Development (YAD) is a youth lead, peacebuilding, civil society initiative based in Quetta whose roots with a core of volunteers in different districts of Baluchistan. YAD is a human rights-based approach with a multi-sector development organization working on a participatory development approach to bring long-term change & sustainable development to society. The idea of a civil society organization evolved in 2002 when a group of likeminded people working in the social, political, democratic, freedoms, justice, climate, gender, feminists, human rights, and development sector in Baluchistan and having enough local, sub-national, national and international exposure and experience got together and initiated the dialogue among themselves on issues of humanism, peace, democracy, human rights, gender, right to information, transparency, accountability, data, environment, water, climate, sanitation, hygiene, health, education & other social issues in the province and country. The group concluded the need for an organization which can address the above mentioned issues through a holistic approach promote the value of humanism, feminism, pluralism, peace, justice, tolerance, equality, equity, basic human rights, women rights, minorities rights, child rights, adolescents rights, address democratic and governance issues, conduct research and analysis, initiate dialogues among different segments of society.

NEW PROJECT

Youth Association for Development with support of Gilead Sciences Inc. Has Launched a New Project Elimination of Hepatitis Through Partnership, Engagement, Digital and Artificial Intelligence-Based Systems in District Quetta. The project objectives are to establish a diverse and inclusive partnership with plans of action and engagement patients and communities that lead to increasing hepatitis awareness in communities and collaboratively eliminating viral hepatitis and to produce the strategic digital and artificial intelligence-based systems that improve the access between hepatitis services seekers and hepatitis services providers that lead to eliminating hepatitis in district Quetta, the project key milestones are the elimination of hepatitis through diverse and inclusive partnerships with the engagement of patients & communities, establishing community-based resource centers, hepatitis self-help, and self-care support groups, digital and artificial intelligence-based systems, utilizing mobile technologies and artificial intelligence through producing hepatitis connect app, establishing a hepatitis lifeline helpline center, and digital campaign, driving hepatitis awareness and self-care and increasing access between hepatitis services seekers and hepatitis services providers in district Quetta. The project contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Good Health and Wellbeing SDG3, Gender Equality SDG5, and Reduced Inequalities SDG10

NEW PROJECT

Youth Association for Development (YAD) Pakistan is delighted to announce that YAD Pakistan has launched a new project: Women’s Participation in Elections, Politics, Literature, Democracy in Pakistan, funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF. The Project Geographical Location is District Quetta, Baluchistan. This project aims to enhance women’s rights, participation, and gender equality in decision-making processes in Quetta district, Baluchistan province. This will be achieved through producing a guiding document, establishing women’s action groups, identifying and implementing necessary actions for gender equality at the district level. The women’s action groups will raise their voices through consultations with duty bearers, and through artistic expressions, such as films, theater performances, and art exhibitions to achieve key women’s participation, increase computerized voter ID registration, as well as the number of women voters, candidates, and elected in 2023 general elections. This project contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) SDG5 Gender Equability, SDG10 Reduced Inequalities, and SDG16 Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
