The YAD-Pakistan’s response towards SDG: 6: Clean Water and Sanitation for All
YAD-Pakistan is working on convergent aspects of water and sanitation, WASH & WATSAN, hand washing, fresh water, infrastructure, governance, health, education, environmental protection, and gender equality. YAD-Pakistan’s programmes apply a multisectoral approach to the problem of water and sanitation and include the following key dimensions:
  • Promoting Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Pakistan
  • Promotion of democratic and transparent water and sanitation governance systems in Pakistan
  • Improving access to water, sanitation hygiene & hand washing services for the poor and marginalized communities for ensuring healthy lives in Pakistan
  • Promoting integrated water governance and climate change adaptation in Pakistan
  • Ensuring people access to safe and affordable drinking water by 2030 in Pakistan
  • YAD-Pakistan invests in adequate infrastructure, provide sanitation facilities and encourage hygiene at every level in Pakistan
  • Protecting and restoring local water models, water potentials, and water opportunities, water-related ecosystems such as forests, bio diversity, mountains, wetlands, canals, water reservoirs, water ponds, water channels, natural water springs, basins, sub basins, and rivers to mitigate water scarcity in Pakistan
  • Seeking more national and international cooperation, cooperation from corporate sector, business community and creating public private partnership to encourage water efficiency and support and treatment technologies in Pakistan.
  • Access to safely managed water supplies and sanitation facilities and decreasing water scarcity, drought, flooding, proper wastewater management for social and economic development in Pakistan
  • Increasing water efficiency and improving water management for balancing the competing and growing water demands from various sectors and users in Pakistan
  • Improving and rehabilitation of local traditional water systems including Karaizes, rain water harvesting, small scale dams, water reservoirs and natural springs etc in Pakistan
  • Establishing flood, tsunami and drought warning systems to save the lives of peoples & planet in Pakistan
Protection people including children die every year from diseases associated with inadequate water supply, sanitation and hygiene in Pakistan
